Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Read plans, drawings, and sketches to fully understand the requirements.
  • Assist in the design phase to improve proposals where required.
  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.
  • Cut, shape and finish timber and other materials (e.g. fiberglass) per measurements.
  • Construct structural and scenic elements as per shop drawings and/or verbal instruction.
  • Coordinate space and set-up requirements with various departments as needed.
  • Execute tasks and collaborate efficiently and on deadline.
  • Assist with management and repair of tools and other equipment.
  • Assist in wrapping, packing, loading, and unloading.
  • Ensure that a safe work environment is maintained.


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a carpenter in Major Event settings in Europe or North America.
  • Fluent in English
  • Relevant experience in working with full range of carpentry materials.
  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
  • Ability to read, produce and amend technical documents and drawings.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Good understanding of mathematics.
  • Good physical condition and endurance.
  • Able to push and pull upwards of 30kg repeatedly.
  • Able to lift 32kg comfortably.

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Degree preferential.
  • Secondary Education required.
  • Successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is preferred.
  • Working at height qualification required (RoSPA accredited course or equivalent)
  • Rope access qualification an advantage (IRATA Lvl 2 or 3 or equivalent)
